Spring to Summer Transitions Qigong Flow (Online)

Qigong (pronounced chee-gong) is an ancient Chinese mind-body-spirit practice that combines gentle movement, meditation, and breath to promote optimum health and wellness. It has also been referred to as "energy yoga". Qigong isn’t your average workout. This is a space for deep transformation and healing. When you practice qigong, you’re practicing self-love and learning to heal yourself (truly from the inside out).

The energy of Spring is expansion and growth. We’ll focus on strengthening the joints and tendons, detoxing/boosting liver health, going with the flow, and continuing to embrace change. The liver's responsible for the smooth flow of not only blood, but also emotions, through the body. It's the organ most affected by stress, and is the body's largest detox organ. Major emotional blockages can be caused by an overactive liver. If your emotions have been weighing you down lately, consider taking this seasonal, transitional time to reinvigorate your spirit and emotions.

The element of the summer is Fire, but too much Fire or Heat disturbs the heart. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, when heat collects in one area of the body this is called “fire poison", otherwise known as inflammation. Summer, being the hottest time of the year, is prone to its own two unique imbalances called Summer Heat and Summer Damp. This can manifest in the form of physical heat and emotional heat. This routine helps to clear heat, calm emotional heat, and move qi in the blood.

We do new routines each month, and classes are suitable for beginners and experts alike. Practice self-care by slowing down, focusing your attention inward, and leave feeling refreshed and with a greater sense of peace.
