Late Summer Qigong Flow: Grounding with the Earth Element (Online via Zoom)

The element of the summer is Fire, but too much Fire or Heat disturbs the heart. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, when heat collects in one area of the body this is called “fire poison", otherwise known as inflammation. Summer, being the hottest time of the year, is prone to its own two unique imbalances called Summer Heat and Summer Damp. This can manifest in the form of physical heat and emotional heat. This routine helps to clear heat, calm emotional heat, and move qi in the blood.

In Chinese, the late summer season is called “The Old Tiger of Autumn”. During this time of transition, the weather is unpredictable - the days are hot or humid and the nights are cold. It’s as if Old Mother Earth doesn’t want to surrender to her death just yet and gives us one last burst of her power, bright colors and harvest. At the center of this changing period, the Earth Phase reminds us to trust in our nourishing connection to Source. It's a time to take care of ourselves and others in a balanced way. Qigong exercises for this period focus on nourishing the Stomach and Spleen, centering, and grounding.

Qigong is an ancient mind-body-spirit practice that combines gentle movement, meditation, and breath to promote optimum health and wellness. It has also been referred to as "energy yoga". Practice self-care by slowing down, focusing your attention inward, and leave feeling refreshed and with a greater sense of peace.

We do new routines each month, and classes are suitable for beginners and experts alike.
