In Chinese, the late summer season is called “The Old Tiger of Autumn”. During this time of transition, the weather is unpredictable - the days are hot or humid and the nights are cold. It’s as if Old Mother Earth doesn’t want to surrender to her death just yet and gives us one last burst of her power, bright colors and harvest.
Moving from hot weather (Summer Yang) to cold weather (Autumn and Winter Yin) can test the digestive and immune system, resulting in allergies, seasonal flu, excessive worry and depression. Late Summer is an important time to prepare the body, mind and spirit for this transition with the corresponding Qigong practices.
At the center of this changing period, the Earth Phase reminds us to trust in our nourishing connection to Source. It's a time to take care of ourselves and others in a balanced way. Qigong exercises for this period focus on nourishing the Stomach and Spleen, centering, and grounding.
Qigong (pronounced chee-gong) is an ancient Chinese mind-body-spirit practice that combines gentle movement, meditation, and breath to promote optimum health and wellness. It has also been referred to as "energy yoga". Qigong isn’t your average workout. This is a space for deep transformation and healing. When you practice qigong, you’re practicing self-love and learning to heal yourself (truly from the inside out).
We do new routines each month, and classes are suitable for beginners and experts alike. Practice self-care by slowing down, focusing your attention inward, and leave feeling refreshed and with a greater sense of peace.
